View Full Version : SBNW?

I have seen posts in other forums and it looks like some of those who complained the most are wimping out and going again. Giving Tom one more chance or keeping to ourselves are the catch phrases being used for justification.

Don't get me wrong, I truly hope whoever goes has fun. I just think that area will draw the attention of a lot of local LEO's and I would rather ride with a few select friends somewhere else. I also don't care to give my money to a guy who behaves the way Tom does.

Anyway, if there are any people from here who want to hang and ride with a group around the same time that SBNW is going on and specifically target different areas to ride, I see no reason why we can't have our own disorganized event. :crash:

Whats the obsession here? Some people went, pissed off others there and now it's an "us against them" thing.

Everybody should get over it. If you want to go and play by "the man's" rules then go and play. If not stay home and do your own thing.

I won't be attending SBNW for other reasons. I won't atted a ride thats sole purpose is to compete with SBNW since my opinion is it's a childish idea. Have fun, ride safe, enjoy whatever event you do and hopefully everybody involved will get over themselves.

I'd be down with disorganization

I don't think it was intended to compete as much as give those who don't want to go something to do.

This is not about a competition. Its about wanting to do something similar around the same time of year because that seems to work for everyone, and is more sport bike friendly. Pretty simple, no obsession, thanks for your input.

I wont be goin to SBNW again, and I know a few others that feel the same personally. We were very interested in doing our own thing.... not because its in direct competition with SBNW, but because it gets us back to being SPORTBIKE northwest, not SLABFEST northwest. Meeting up with everyone in one place was the only positive to the entire experience that involved the actual SBNW facility. Other than that there was barely anything related to sportbikes or focused towards the sportbike community. The poker run itself which was touted to be the creme de la creme was nothing more than riding down the highway.

Oh and to add, the main reason for having our own private SBNW at the same time as the one thrown by Tom, was because the LEO's would have all of Tom's road plans and be watching them instead of ours which would be completely secretive.... so it keeps the focus off us. Also most people already plan on that time off for this sort of thing.

I think we should have our own little camp out this year. Just for us sportbikers. Not because of SBNW, but because everyone probably wants that time off anyways, and it would be a great time for us to get together and swallow some insects... LOL

Gee now politics are into riding a bike, I got my first 33 years ago and have learned that being on my bike is freedom. as you all know, i dont know anyone here in the nw and really have just only met a few of you. when i stoppped in the broom ball game the other night, very few people came up to me and welcomed me to your group. For those people thanks so much. I definitely met some nice folks. my philosophy about bikers and loving this common desire is if this guy or girl loves this freedon we get as much as me, then its good to know them. biking isnt about sticking your arm down and out when another biker goes by you. I would just love to ride, drama free and if a guy is a putz, give him what he gives me. live free and ride!!! sponsored by your local ranting new guy

Arin,
Sorry that you're getting this kind of taste from us.
It's the freedom to express ourselves and our our love of riding that binds 99% of us here. This sight has done a pretty good job of not turning into a DRAMA CLUB. There have been a few instances where things started to turn that way and when most of us wouldn't play the game, it pretty much just disappeared.
You'll find a huge diversity of people here. All sharing that same love of freedom and expression that you're looking for. So don't dismiss us just yet, OK?
I might suggest you post a ride of your own and invite others to join you. You might be pleasantly surprised! I know I was when I invited riders to join me for a New Years day ride and there were 9 of us. 6 of whom I had never met!
So........hang in and enjoy the show. Cabin Fever is about to end!!!:clapping:

Actually for the cost... could almost go cheaper and stay in a motel/hotel across the bridge (tax free) and still get in on all the rides.
