I think it would be great to see a strong presence from the local Sportbike community! I am working on sb.ws to organize a gathering to possibly meet for breakfast beforehand.
WE NEED YOUR HELP - FOPIR HAS ALREADY MADE AN IMPACT, AND A BIG TURNOUT HERE WILL CREATE GREAT PR
Every year in December Portland International Raceway (PIR) plays host to some 30,000 cars as they make their way through the annual Christmas light displays around the track. A few of these thousands of cars see fit to throw out their trash during this slow procession. Also there are numerous bits of metal and glass that end up laying about after the light crews have taken down all of the Christmas displays.
The Friends of PIR in conjunction with SOLV is holding a Clean Up PIR day on Sunday, February 11th. This is our opportunity to help make our favorite park and Exit 307B on the I-5 corridor a nicer, cleaner area.
Please join us at 10am on the 11th for a massive clean up. There will be pizza and drinks for all workers and with many hands it should be light work.
We will also need a volunteer with a pickup truck to transport the cleanup gleanings to the disposal area in the park and a food coordinator.
We are estimating that with 50 volunteers we should be able to get this done by 4pm. We have an age limit imposed by the state fior folks that will work in the I5 ramp area of a minimum of 18 years.
Please Let us know if you plan to come so we can make sure to have enough food and drinks on hand.
Email or call Don if you plan to attend at drcbike@comcast.net or 503 970 4848
Thanks to you for your commitment to helping preserve PIR today and into the future
