Hello Everyone,
My name is Sul pronounced Sol. I live near Sherwood area, and I started riding back in 07 thats when I picked up my Gixxer 1000 K7. It's the black and copper paint scheme. I usually ride to work, and some stuff around town, but I realized I needed some people to ride with, and learn from. So that is why I'm here.... make some friends go out on rides whenever I can between work, school, and around the wifes schedule. So I'll have a few pix of the K7 up nothing special it is bone stock for now. give it 2 more years.
thanks,
Flyte Risk

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome!!! As for the underoo's I'll leave that one alone.. So I was check out some of the threads, and the threads for the get together is that pretty much the only one as far as meeting up with people and getting out on rides? Once again thanks everyone.

We get together quite a bit actually. It's not reflected on the board because we all know each other and often word travels by phone or text msg. If you have something in mind post it up and see who can get free.

Welcome and junk. This is time when most people say welcome to the board, and warn you of different people, but I'm not going to do that. JonnXX is really a girl. I lied!:haha:
Welcome!:wave:wave:wave

Well, this weekend would be perfect if it wasn't for my school but the 11th is the last day. And from there on end I have 3-4 days off everyweek going into mid Sep. So if you guys maintain a list of people to contact for rides I would appreciate it if I could be added to that list, or I could just post which days I want to go out and see who replies.

Your probably best off posting up what time you have and what you're thinking of and see who's interested and can make it. Unlike alot of other groups most of us here are "older" and have lives outside riding at every chance. That has both it's bad and good things about it, bad that we have other things, good that we have the experience of age to let us know when to back off on a ride. Crashing sucks.

I'd be down for something this weekend but...
http://i299.photobucket.com/albums/mm287/land6266/Public%20Share/IMAG0033.jpg
What areas are you familiar with riding? Everyone here has their "area" they know. On the West side I know quite a few places but once I get East a little bit I'm lost until I can get way East to Vernonia, then I'm good.
What kind of riding do you like? Most if not all of us are content cruising at 60'ish most of the time  That being said though, I'll be the first to admit, I'm a corner whore. If its not twisty, its not a ride...
Flyte Risk
08-05-2010, 05:08 PM
Yeah, we're content crusing @ 60 MPH, he failed to mention that neither of us slow down for those 25 or 30 MPH corners, depending on how we feel we may even speed up.

08-05-2010, 05:49 PM
That being said though, we will preach relentlessly DO NOT try to keep up. Ride your own pace and where YOU feel comfortable. Biggest thing with us is that you have nothing to prove to us and we have nothing to prove to you. If someone is clearly faster than you and you wana know why, ask at the next stop. We're always more than willing to help out. Flyte just likes the chance to talk about how awesome he is though so watch out for that
Mainly, nobody wants to see anyone else get hurt or worse.
That is all,

yeah thanks guys I don't want to see anyone hurt either!! stay safe!! yes I like the twisties... but as you mentioned I want to learn how to do those 25 or 30 or 40 at 60... I'm mostly familiar with the Sherwood area, but I don't really know the back roads. I have heard that the ride to bald peak park is a good one with alot of twisties... I have heard that it might rain this weekend so I wouldn't want to go out on that its just not fun plus I have had more close calls on those type of days.... Anyways guys my intent is to learn from others learn to ride better on my bike, and I have nothing to prove just want to ride and meet some new people.

Did you move to the coast? "East" to Vernonia? From your house? You might want to invest in GPS or your gonna be one of those guys that wives tell stories about that went to the store and never came home - cause he was directionally challenged:haha:.

Welcome Sol. Now I have senority, so if there are any layoffs, you'll go first. Welcome.
Don't you just love the GIXXER! Unfort, a few years back I totaled mine on Mary's Peak. Was riding with a friend, who went down right in front of me on a HUGE crack in the road and I had no choice but to lay it down so I didn't hit him. Looking back - I think that was a bad decision ;)

Dang Master_E: I would love to go out on FNR.... I work every friday from 7pm to 715am on Saturday, but I do have every other Saturday off next one is the 21st!! Thanks for asking about the final it went okay not the best that I have done but I think it will suffice.... Considering that I had no motivation what so ever this summer, and I was able to attend a class which had only 8 session and miss 2 of them I think I did okay... Midterm I got a B, final I might have gotten D or if I'm lucky a C!! but all of the labs I had A's so if I can even get a C in the class I will be happy!! aside from that how about a SAR (Sunday Afternoon Ride) I'll be out of work at 7:10am I'll go home and sleep until 12:00 wake up and shower get some brunch, and ready to go around 2pm, 3pm the latest.. and I have the rest of day pretty much until 8pm I have to go to gresham for a family dinner.... Let me know who's up for it I will check the board at 9pm, 12am, 6am while I"m working...
BTW: how did your final go?

It went pretty well. I've covered most of the material in the class before it was about 7 years ago though so I forgot a lot of stuff that being said I'm pretty sure I pulled an A out. I thought I'd waltz in and blast the placement test but ended up feeling a bit "challenged" afterward... If you don't use it you sure as hell lose it...
I'm working on the Engineering transfer program to PSU aka an ass load of prerequisites at CCC... When I moved out to the valley to go to school I went to CCC and got the drafting technology degree and held a 4.0 the whole time. It was pretty cool. This time I'm living by the statement
"C's get degrees"

awesome I attended PCC and graduated with a 3.67 overall I got a Computer Software Engineering Degree, and then I transferred over to OIT... I have been working on my BS for awhile now, but since I work full time it makes it difficult. I only have 1 core class left and 3 classes for my senior project! After that I have 25 credits of GE's left then I will finally be done... I'm entertaining the idea of a masters, but really me and wife have been married for 10+ years and no kids we have everything ready for them house, car, rooms, but no kids we both want to get our school out of the way first! She attends UofO now... so anyway how about a ride this up coming sunday! check out the gatherings section!
