View Full Version : Think Dirt

I've been thinking... I'd like to start riding dirt again for some exercise...
I'm liking the CR450F's. I found this 05 and I really like it. I just need the money for the bike... I'll figure out where the money for all the gear will come from later...

I'm not in much of a hurry. It would be really rushed to get a bike and go for my first ride on dirt in about seven years this season; but I wouldn't mind
I'd like to find that ever elusive "sweet deal". I know sometime between December and February would be the best time to buy but if the price is right and I can come up with the cash, I wouldn't mind getting a ride or two in this season...

I know a guy with a pair of RM250's that would part with them cheap. .... Say both for half the price of that 450.
Honestly he's told me that for the one if someone put $500 in his face he'd take it. One is an 89 and the other a 98. Let me know if you wan the #

I probably would if they were 450's. I'm 6'4" 210# with no gear on... I need all the motor I can get... And because I'm such a dumb ass I want to get something say; a really nice 02 or an 05+ that's in good shape... Screw buying a new one! OMG what a joke! I'd rather buy a new SV650 than a new dirt bike...
2009 CRF450R = $7999
2009 SV650SF ABS = $7999

You can throw a leg over my Swedish Big Block any time you'd like.
It's totally set up for the woods.

Oh yes. I gots dirt. Like most people ( I think) it's what I started riding on about 30 years ago.
It's been so long since I've fired the Husky up though that it doesn't think I love it any more.

Woods- I can give a buddy a call that know's the Lee's, Brown's, and Horse Camp (the whole Tillamook Burn area) like the back of his hand and hit up some trails. Oh, I could go for a little Hood Raiser right about now!

Ah cool. He can show you where the warmup freeways are then, and I'll show you where the GOOD trails are (here's a hint, they're at none of the above areas lol).

What, do you only go up and down vertical hills? Last time I looked (just to copy and paste) the Tillamook burn area is/was a total area of 355,000 acres. :squid::twofinger:

I like to ride the old burn, not the new one that's full of people (and LEO's with XR600's that know how to ride them)
Brown's Camp was good for cruisin' for chicks on a wore out 125 about 15 years ago, but there's no serious riding there.
Meadow Lake/Trask/Saddle Mountain, the Murphy side, Panther Creek, Deer Creek...Or down to the Dallas Alps...That's where the riding is.
I guess it depends on whether you'd rather ride trails or dirt roads

All I know is we leave from Lee's and do about 80+ miles for the day. We get to unrated trails (ones without signs). And in fact yes, I enjoy some that are a little more open, you get to fly like the wind and hit the small hips for a little air time. One route (not sure of the name) you have to either not jump or better hope you clear the next hip.
Besides those, we have been on some really nasty rut, mud pit climbs too. The ruts so deep you have to walk on top while the bike stays in them because there is no room. We always mix it up. I just don't like the down hill nor the vertical climb. Nevertheless, my bike can only do so much on a climb. It's only a TT-R 225.
You ever ride Washougal?

Bah, you're not hittin' 'em hard enough. You can drive right up the sides. But you better DRIVE it, there ain't no putting up those

Yeah, your not kidding but the place where were at had no way out besides slamming the front tire into roots hoping to get a hop into the rut and yeah. My pussy cousin was with me and hit the tree...it was see funny. Just like the the cartoons!
The MX track or the trails? I've never been to the track.
