I am moving to Bend next week and am looking to get to know a few people to ride with and get into the track day circuit. I ride a 2005 GSX-R 1000 and am a knee dragging canyon freak!

Welcome
I'd like to officially annouce that Damon completes our group.
I have often said that we need two things on a group ride with us, a Phsycologist(sp?) and a Chiropractor..... In my admin travels I do believe that Damon is one of those two.
Now if we can just get him and Dr (Sloguyonthe)Duc together we're set!

I am a chiro, but (hopefully) no longer practicing. I am moving to Bend next week and already going through Adreniline withdrawal. Anyone want to show me where to ride in the area? The twistier the better. Also, how is the Five-0 presence? I am guessing that you can't downshift and hit 135 on HWY 97 like you can do on I-78 when you see them.

I was also an assistant organizer for the North County Sportbike Meetup Group in San Diego.

There is some GREAT riding. I am not sure about the exact area in Bend, but out towards Maupin and John day, boyhowdy! :rad:

Yes the John Day Valley, Fossil, Maupin, Prineville Res area. All great places to go ride and the Five-0's are few and far between. If you're going to do 135 though take a radar detector with you so you can spot them before its to late. You may be fast but not as fast as their radios; they will come after you. I personally haven’t had the pleasure but I grew up in John Day and have heard/read a lot of stories in the paper.

Thanks! I will keep it under triple digits. I would rather drag a knee at 50 than a straight at any speed.

What he failed to mention is that pesky little state law up here. It says if you get caught in excess of 100 mph you get a mandatory 30 to 90 day suspension and $1108 fine.

So keep your head up and you knee down, and you should be fine. :smilewink:

Oh yea; and anything thats 30mph over the limit you can be cuffed and stuffed and get your bike impounded. Said the arrogant, condocending steroid junky that pulled me over at 85mph... I got the ticket and a lecture about 1 more mph and I would have been taking a ride downtown; in the back of a car...

See now, the twatwaffle that wrote me for 65 in a 35 didn't even mention that. It was more like the 5 min Q&A session about did I have a gun and why I didn't give him my concealed permit before he handed me my freshly minted shit wipe and explained he lowered the fine as low as he could.
Jerk, I'd preferred he lowered the speed and left the fine.

I generally do not have to go that fast to have fun. 45 with a knee on the ground is OK with me.

IN So Cal they probably would have just shot you and thought you were fleeing a robbery at that speed with a gun. Wow!

Bah, in So Cal 65 in a 35 is going with the flow of traffic.
On the having the gun, thats normal down there too, take a stroll through Compton, Van Nuys, South Central... all the cool kids have them now days. Difference is up here I have a permit to carry mine. (and no, I don't carry on the bike. It would be way too tempting to use.)

There are a few times down in SD I would have loved to have had a gun. There would be a lot of Bilnged out SUV's with bullet holes in them.
