So, today, I took advantage of nothing falling from the sky and washed my bike. I Honda-brited it, and its so CLEAN.

I wanted to clean up my chain, but I had no help getting the bike on the stand, as Eric is out on a day long scoot.

Sucks being a wimp. I am sure I could have done it, but I don't want to risk dropping my bike. :eek2: Alone.

That is all.

Its actually easier than you might think.

Standing beside the Bike, with your Left Hand on the Grip, and your Right braced on the Tank, reach out your Right Foot, and press down the Center Stand until it hits the ground.
With the Stand against the ground, rock the Bike side to side, and you will feel where both Feet of the Stand make contact. With that position, reach down below the seat (where the Handle is), and lift gently as you pull the Bike back with your Left Hand on the Grip, while standing frimly on the Stand.
Bike will lift itself.
Piece of Pie!

It doesn't have a center stand. I forgot to specify. I WISH it had a center stand... *sigh*

We have a rear stand, that we can use on both bikes.

lol, newer bikes don't have center stands. Honestly I'd rather do the rear stand then have a center stand bolted on.

LOL all you want!! :twofinger:
I'm "Old School"- and Proud Of It! Damn Young Whipper-Snappers!

And I would take a Center any day, just cause you can't haul a Rear Stand behind you (well... maybe you could, but you would have to go really fast to keep it following you in a straight line!).
Besides, the Center can be a good scrape indicator that its time to pull up!

Sorry Jane. All that advice for a part you don't even have!
OK...
Here is one more suggestion then:
Have Eric standing beside the Bike, while you attempt to lift it yourself.
That way if it does fall, he can catch it.
Give it a couple tries until you can do it successfully without him grabbing it, and next time he is out terrorizing the Sunday Drivers, you can lift it on your own with the confidence that you can do it!

Center stand = unnecessary weight.

Monkey Wrench

I agree on the Center Stand Weight, however...

I could see it being an issue if it were a Competition Bike, but for a Daily Rider its a good thing to have, unless you don't plan on having any Down Time on the side of the road. Might as well toss out the Tool Kit as well!

How much weight are we really talking about here anyway?
I've had Waste Management Issues on Rides which weighed more than my Center Stand!:eek2::haha::eek2:

The tool kit was the first thing I took out of the ZX

Same here. The tool kit was removed shortly after arriving home from the dealer.

You have to make room in that handy lil trunk at some point for more necessary toys i.e power commander.
As for down time...im a respected and regular member of the good ol roadside assistance. Tow truck can come pick my ass up so I can pick up a buddy's truck and trailer to haul my bike back. Haha.

its not so much about strength but more about balance.

Have Eric work with you putting it on the rear stand over and over until you are comfortable doing it yourself.

She forgot to add that Eric isn't strong enough either. It actually takes both of them to be able to do it.

I was impressed that I was recently able to change out all my spark plugs with ONLY using what was supplied in the factory tool kit...

Bikes have tool kits??

:idunno:

I think thats what they call them :idunno:

I thought tools were supposed to be useful though

Really though they actually are not to bad now-a-days. I've used pieces of mine for various things. Like adjusting my chain slack. It takes two 12mm wrenches and I only have one... The 10mm/12mm combo that came in the kit works out quite nicely  And I used the spanner wrench that came with Kris's 250 to adjust her shock too...

So I guess I cant say they are completely useless...

Just mostly useless

I was showed an easy way of getting a bike on a rear stand (after struggling with it for years the old way)

1) Bike is on the side stand.
2) Roll the rear stand up the the rear and get the left hook under the left peg.
3) Now push the rear stand down and the bike starts to stand upright. Hold the seat with your free hand.
4) When the bike gets upright, let the right peg settle in the right hook of the stand.
5) Now when both are seated, finish by pushing the stand in the final position.

A GIRL showed me this....
