:soapbox:  Ok, so I have kinda been following the buy out of the AMA by DMG (datona motor goup). Thinking to myself what kind of Crack are they smoking . So far they are talking about forcing out factory teams, doing away with the 1000cc class, slowing down the 600 class, Spec tires, spec fuels, and the list goes on and on... Thus ruining the sport all together in much the same way nascar was ruined. :idunno: Gonga lines around a circle jerk track where the only difference between the cars is the stickers. Next thing you know they will want every bike to look the same as they do 100 mph parade laps like nascar does... Weclome to comunist racing where lazy people do not have to move thier fat buts or put down thier beer to watch what they pretend is a race. Screw the DMG!
:2cents: Would not a better way to make it more affordable and competitive whould just instill a price cap on the bikes. Something like 50k per and make the racers list the mods that were made and any devation from they're stated mods would result in disqualification. I feel that would be much easyer and fair for all concerned. That way the factories could still compete, Tire companies would still make advances, and priviteers could afford it. In addition aftermarket companies could still develope, racers would have options of what mods and ext they want to make or use and all would benifit without ruining the sport.
No wonder we have to turn to the rest of the world, F-USA, or club racing if we want to see real racing....

I really don't watch AMA anymore. It's always Spies or Mladin anyways. I watch FIM and MotoGP.

I've watched and seen many AMA series races since the mid 80's & I believe they gotta do something though to make it more fan friendly.

Yes, I know Yoshimura has a friggin incredible team and kudos to that. I've been a major fan of their team, back to the days of Jamie James.

It has just gotten old to see Yoshimura finish 1,2,3 then Yamaha, then Honda, then Kaw, then all the Supersport contenders.

I've actually quit planning my vacations around attending race weekends throughout the US or even watching some of the televised races on Speed.

Change may actually make it more enticing to watch.

Another idea I'd like to see them do is have some races at different raceways throughout. How about Thunderhill, Watkins Glen, PIR, Willow Springs, Iowa Speedway, etc, etc... :ride:
