I bought an EX500 for $300 but no title so I plan to use all the parts on it to get my old race bike on the road again and use the untitled bike for a track bike. This time though I will use an aftermarket exhaust, racetech fork emulators and aftermarket brakes. But I will switch engines as the race bike engine was making more than 60 hp to the rear tire, I will also switch front ends with the home made fork brace, home made clip-ons and home made rearsets. I also plan to get crazy with the hacksaw and make the track bike as light as possible. I just have to figure out how to make an oil catch lower for the track bike. I think that the resulting street bike will be mostly normal, other than the crazy paint job my Brother did on it! I am looking forward to trying the new turn 4 at PIR.

I would like that, I am not sure what parts I could use except a flywheel with the magnets still intact. I also am debating about going with the "street fighter" look with the street bike as my Brother had lost the fairing so he only painted the rest of the bodywork. I hope to post some pictures of the paint work, it is from his early days at Monaco Coach.

I really had not given the sprocket any thought, I guess I could reduce the gearing on the street bike but I need increase the gearing for the track bike. The last time I rode the race bike on the track (9 years ago) it hit the rev limiter about 2/3 the way down the front straight with stock gearing (16/42). So my plan with the track bike is to run 17/42 gearing. Here is another picture of the paint job I hope.

with the 45 rear, and stock front...you'll up your torque due to amount of contact per tooth being increased by 7.1% according to gearingcommander.com

plus, it will take weight off from that clunky steel sprocket...its nice and aluminum, double hardened

That sounds pretty good. Any suggestions about lights and gauges for a "street fighter"? We have more than enough torque with the race engine, with it is a need for higher gearing. A good race launch had the 12,000 rpm rev limiter shutting things down before the clutch was all the way out. But with the street bike I think could use some lower gearing. And aluminum would be nice. I am planning to use aluminum "F1r" mufflers on the street bike, but I still have not desided to use "clip-ons" or "stock" bars.
