So, I've come to my wits end as far as the fighter goes...I'm getting a knock in the top end (valve adjustment?) and it's REALLY hard starting...I need a mechanic...Who do you suggest?
I called Factory Motorsports, and they said they're two weeks out...I haven't called anyone else yet...

Vicious Cycles on Interstate is one that Lobes & Torque told me about. They are good. Gotta give them a call and pray they aren't 2 weeks out either. They are reasonablely priced as well. Their shop is a bit small. Still I've heard nothing but good reports.
EDR is good also. However, they are on the higher end :2cents: :2cents: :2cents: . After seeing you today and knowing how its going. You'll want to go there me thinks... Also I'm not sure that EDR works on older or street fighter types.
I think its like a 9 yr window of this year that they accept. That is about the only negative thing I've heard about EDR and that they are spendy..

Have you checked the valves and done a carb sync? That's easy enough to do on your own assuming you haven't. And a carb sync is always a good thing. My SV makes some rather loud "ticking" sounds if the carbs get off enough. Runs like crap too... Are you mechanically inclined enough to change the spark plugs and oil? If so a valve check and carb sync would be no problem...
If you get in and find a valve(s) gap is off by more than .005" from either end of the tolerence band I'd say thats your problem. But if you get in and all the valves measure out within spec; put the valve covers back on and find a mechanic... EDR is really good. Eric does great work. But if you're like me you just cant afford it. Ebay a service manual and go to town

Rob, really call me and we'll see whats up with my schedule. The only thing I don't have is the sync guage, if you're willing to buy one I'm sure we can work something out to get you on the road.

Sync guages are easy to make. Unless you plan on using it every single day don't buy one. I made mine and it works great.
