So a friend at work was looking to buy his first bike and I foolishly sent him to Factory Motorsports in OC to buy one:bm :admin . 31 May he ended up buying a new red Kawi 650R (not a bad beginners bike) and I went with him to pick it up. I rode it to a friends house about 7 miles away to help him move we were looking at the bike when we noticed that the left plastic was cracked and that the case cover had a large gouge underneath it in an area covered by the plastic in a place other than the part that was cracked. By the time we arrived back in OC at Factory Motorsports they were closed for the night. Sunday morning bright and early at 10am we showed back up at Factory Motorsports and waited until they opened at 11am. We showed Mike (Finance guy) the problem and left it there to be fixed. A week passed still no word back so I went by there to see what was up with it and I spoke with Jason (salesman). He meandered around a refused to acknowledge that the fact that we picked the bike up like that and tried to accuse us of dropping it. I pointed out that the damage was inconsistent with a drop. He then offered to pay for half the cost of the parts with my friend paying for the other half (plastics to be bought at cost) that they would install them at no cost to my friend (my friend also when he bought the bike paid for a service contract that was supposed to cover all labor for installation of parts) Anyway bottom line we finally picked up the bike this last Sunday, my friend went to pay for his half this time Mike (finance guy) reintegrated the cost was to be half the parts no labor. My friend paid off we went. So today my friend received this call from Jason (salesman) telling him that he needed to come in and pay and additional $70.00 for half the labor to install the parts and insisted that my friend and I misheard him and that it was supposed to be half for everything:yell: . I know what I heard him say. Mike the finance guy also heard the same deal. To top it off even if my friend would have bought the parts himself according to the service contract they sold my friend when he bought the bike they would have had to install them for free to include all aftermarket parts. So bottom line Is I have to question either the Integrity of the shop and the integrity and honesty of the salesman Jason. If you all chose to do business with them please keep this saga in mind and go elsewhere. They are defiantly not the only shop in town. :2cents: :feedback

Um whats the lemon law here in Oregon ? You have more of a case than financial Mike....I would have refused to pay anything. Because I go to buy a new bike. I expect nothing to be wrong with it. Its an insult to injury to have the customer pay anything extra. Their fault they fix it. Period. Or since they didn't live up to their end of the bargain. I would tell them take their contract &///////////////, and bite it.
But that s me. I've in the past got jerked around .Now I'm getting better at making the responsible party pay up...
Sorry to hear about that. I've never heard such nonsense before. Make them pay. Don't give another penny..IMO

That's what I told my friend not to pay one more dime and to ask for a refund on the service contract.

If he bought it new, he should have paid for nothing, zip, zero. He needs to have the money he paid to have it fixed refunded to him.

Agreed but now what? I told him not to give them another dime and to claim buyers remorse. what he does is on him but I just hate to see someone get screwed like that.

Yeah, that is hard to see. Maybe he just paid to get it done and overwith. I am wondering if he should have it looked over to make sure there is nothing else wrong.

I think when buying a car you can give it back with in a couple days of the purchase. I'm thinking 3 days to a week. Bikes I'm not sure, maybe the same. That might be why they held onto it for so long.

I'm not sure...maybe this weekend if you are free. I'll get my bike back tomorrow so I'll be good after that. To keep in mind....I might try to get a BBQ going not this weekend but next. Not sure yet but I'll PM you on all the details if it goes down.

Yeah, Beaverton Honda/Yamaha/Suzuki is a fucked up place to buy motorcycles, too. I originally fell in love with this "used" (it only had like 100 miles on it) custom Ninja 650R (It was black with red ghost flames, has a custom exhaust and turn signals..... It was GORGEOUS). We had FINANCING going through on the bike..... And they SOLD IT FROM UNDERNEATH MY NOSE!!!! Seriously!! The salesman called and said these exact words to me, "Well, your financing was approved." (Me): "Really? That's awesome! When would you like us to come in?" (Salesman): "Well, the only problem is that we don't have your bike anymore." (Me): "Wait, what? What do you mean you still don't have the bike?" (Salesman): "Well, we sold it." (Me): "....while we had financing approved?" (Salesman): "Well, I have two other 650R's out here..."
Needless to say, neither Paul or I were very nice to this asshole. So don't go there either!!!
