i have an integraded LED tail light set-up on my bike right now, and before i get it back to oregon, i want to if what i have is legal.

when i hit the brakes, the brake lights flash, they don't flash then come on solid, they just flash.

is my set-up legal or am i going to have to spend more $$$?

Hmmm. Not sure about that one. My first thought is probably not(but I'm definately not the brightest bulb in the box either:hysterical: ) I just put one on my bike but the brakes come on solid red, and half shuts off for the yellow turn signals. It also says DOT on the lens.
Hopefully MEP will see this thread and can shed some light on the subject. I'll check later and see if I can find anything out.
later,
B

Yea Dan, the best person to ask is MEP1000. He is our resident law man and is really knowledgable about things like that. You might want to repost this in the "Ask a cop" section to make sure he sees it.

Whether or not it's legal, that does sound like a cool idea. I always liked the brake lights that flashed when in use, it's much more of a eye-catcher and I think would prevent people from rear-ending you. Maybe.

First thought is that it would be legal. However if you ride at night the flashing lights attract drunk drivers much like the headlights that flash will make a drunk vere towards them... If you run these watch your 6

really? that is interesting. I guess when I saw them, I thought they caught my eye to stay away. But then again, I wasn't drunk, so. Good to know.

Drunks will see things and fixate on them.. Flashing headlights and brake lights are just a couple examples...

Should be legal, they sell kits to enable even a stock tail light to do that... a safety feature. I dont think its legal for cars and such but I know I get requests for it at the shop. Same with the headlight pulse thinge...lol anoying as hell but it does make you see the bike ya know.

Plenty of stuff is sold in stores that isn't legal. They hide it in the fine print

Yeah, it usually says (in VERY small print somewhere) "for show or off-road use only" I did alot of checking to make sure my taillight was DOT approved before I ordered it.

I bet this would stop if said retailer was made to pay a fine for selling an illegal product.
