Hey all!
I have a couple of questions about motorcycle lights for the law eforcement persons here.
1. do I need a plate light to be legal at night? I am sure I do, but have had a couple of people tell me I don't, so I'm asking.

2. Do I need front running lights? None of the LED signals I have seen have a three wire hookup, so just blinkers-no running lights.

Just trying to keep the bike completely legal. I HATE tickets!!!!!!!
Thanks,
B

Yea, here is what I found:

Oregon
Helmet required
Eye protection required unless equipped with windscreen
Headlights required during daylight hours
Both mirrors required
Passenger seats and foot rests required (if passenger aboard)
Safety inspection required (random)http://www.cyclefish.com/statelaws.asp

my bike came from the factory without running lights. Jus the headlights and taillight. I do have a "city light" a small bulb between the headlights that is always on though...

Ok Ok I could be wrong on the running lights. I know for a fact that you do need the license plate light :idunno:

Thanks MEP! I figured as much about the plate light. I was having problems finding anywhere to mount the one I had purchased, so I exchanged it and paid a little more for the led license plate bolts-problem solved there:thumbup:
Still confused about the running light thing, though:thinking: I have had about a 50-50 split on the answer. I really appreciate you checking for me. You are an asset to this board, my friend.:clapping:
Thanks again,
B

No problem Bobby. I'm always happy to help. I found a different section of the ORS today. ORS 816.320 looks like running lights aren't required for motorcycles..
