For sale is my 2001 Suzuki Bandit 1200s (GSF-1200s K2), red in color, with 31,031 miles. I purchased this bike in August, with 26k miles, and have added all the additional miles myself. I am the 3rd owner; the 2nd owner only put 500 miles on it in the <year he had it because “the wife” didn’t approve. I have contact info for original owner, who I am told used it for touring. I have used this bike every day, as I have no car, and it has worked awesome, performing great especially in the rain. It has kept up great with late-model literbikes and easily outgrunts middleweights.
I am asking $1,600 but am very open to reasonable offers. Please PM or e-mail MCA8690@yahoo.com. My name is Michael. PLEASE include your full name and contact info, e-mail preferred (easier than keeping track of cell numbers, and matching them to names/offers, etc. etc.). I will respond to each and every respectful offer or inquiry within 24 hours, and have loads of high-res pictures of the bike, from just about every angle possible. CASH ONLY, LOCAL ONLY, NO TRADES, unless you have a clean-title FZ6, in which case I have the cash (3-5k) to make-up for the difference.
Modifications:
Holeshot “street” 17in. slip-on exhaust, satin black with Holeshot logo plate - $394
Suzuki P.A.I.R. removed with Holeshot block-off covers - $42
ProBike gel grips installed - $12
Holeshot “2001+ B-12 Stage 1 modified jet kit” - $128
Maintenance and Service:
In the 4,924 miles I’ve had it, I have personally changed the oil every 1,000 miles (4x total), added Suzuki carb cleaner/water remover every 1,000 miles (4x total), and changed the oil filter every 2,000 miles (2x total) [Oil used was Suzuki OEM 10w40, with the most recent change being Castrol semi-synthetic 20w50 (much better). Oil filter was Suzuki OEM]. Battery Tender Plus used regularly.
Within the last 1200 miles and 60 days:
EDR *cleaned the carburetors, *installed a fuel filter, *replaced the air filter, *replaced the sparkplugs, *installed the Stage 1 modified jet kit, which includes the *Holeshot +5 degree ignition advancer and airbox modification (3mm drilled), and *synched the carbs. Eric subsequently dyno’d it on 11-2-‘07 at 117 rwhp and 77 torque (corrected). That’s an increase of 17% rwhp and 7% torque (stock) [This has given the bike great cold start-up ability, firing right up on the first crank, and awesome 1st and 2nd gear power-wheelie fun]. Barry Wressell inspected the suspension on 11-28-’07, and it was set right for a 5’11’’ 180lbs rider [me].
Receipts for all services, parts, and maintenance. Dyno chart available.
Unfortunately, on Dec. 3rd someone made an illegal turn in front of me and I struck their car at a slow speed, 16-18mph. The bike did not “slide”, but rather hit the car head-on, then did a 0-mph pavement drop on the L side. Prior to this accident this bike had never been involved in any accident, and had a clean title (many pics and title to prove). The frame is 100% straight and true, and was not damaged in the crash. As it sits, the bike cannot be driven because the front forks are bent inwards. It was declared totaled because of the forks, and I will be getting a salvage title from the DMV (probably) tomorrow.
To repair the damage sustained in the crash, and be street-legal again, the Bandit needs:
New front forks, new front rim, and new shift pegs/linkage (L side). The cosmetic damage consists of: the clutch lever tip breaking clean off (sanded smooth now), the headlight cover breaking off, the tail section being cosmetically scratched (not “rashed,” it’s almost superficial) on L side, the L side engine case cover sustaining minimal scratching, and the front fairings (L and R sides, “chin” under headlights, and front fender) being cracked, some worse than others.
The engine still fires right up, and idles and revs fine. Because the shift linkage is broken, it can’t be ran through the gears. I have done my best to describe all the damage, but I am not a mechanic. Again, both the frame and motor appear/sound undamaged, with no odd noises idling or revving. I have been firing up the bike and putting it through a few heat cycles every day to prevent the carbs from gumming up, and just to keep the engine in good condition.
I was going to part this bike out, but I don’t have the tools/space/time. If you do, there is easily over a grand in the parts themselves. The motor, frame, swingarm, dash (odo, tach, etc.), front (Tokico 6 piston) brakes (50% pads remaining), rotors, wiring harness, headlights (hi and low beam), tank, pipe, carbs, seat, etc. were all NOT damaged in the crash (save cosmetic engine case cover scratching). Again, the major damage consists of front forks, front fairings, and front wheel. I have been offered over $1,000 for the bike as is by junk/salvage yards and insurance auction places, and that was low-balling to give them a profit when they "flipped" it.
If you want to repair this bike, complete front end is on this CL ad for under $200: Front forks of an ’04 Bandit 1200s can be had for $150. Straight swap. That’s right, front forks and triple tee, under 2 bills. He has turn signals and (I believe) pegs, as well. All of these parts are 100% compatible, 2001 and 2004. This would get you an easy street-legal naked or street-fighter for well under 2k, or only a few plastics away from being restored.

I purchased a set of ’04 B-12s tires on wheels from this guy (Brian), as well as the much sought-after Suzuki gel seat (discontinued), and he was upfront, responded quick to all my e-mails, and was open to offers. I would highly recommend him if you are looking to get the Bandit rolling. As for the un-mounted tires (almost-new Michelin Macadams) on the wheels and gel seat that I bought from him (less than 5 days before the crash), they are available for purchase, and may be included if I receive (close to) my asking price. Tires and wheels may be bought separately.
VIN#JS1GV77A212101077. Oregon title #0611004708. Title: Salvage, no liens, in my name. I am located in SW Portland, OR, near Wilson High School, off the Terwilliger Exit on I-5, or where Barbur blvd. and Beaverton Hillsdale Highway connect....
Oh yeah, that's me on the Bandit, day or two after the crash, only low-beam on. High beam works fine.
