i'm glad i wasnt on the bike tonight... this will be the only time you'll ever hear me say it, but thank god for cold crappy weather! was on the freeway on the way to work tonight and came up on 3 deer in the middle of the lanes, quite unexpectedly... since my car is low to the ground, and i dont want a deer in my lap (along with large quantities of glass) i braked and swerved to avoid it... then swerved a little the other direction to avoid its buddy... then wound up in a spin with my tires all locked up... car went into a cement barrier at about 65-70mph... i'm happy there was only one other car around so that i didnt get broadsided by a semi or something. luckily not much damage was sustained to me or the car. the deer got away just dandy, in case you were wondering, thanks to my cat-like reflexes. need a new rear bumper, rt. rear 1/4 panel, and right rear taillight assembly... plus my back is toast. :on-crutches:
i would have been in a world of hurt had i been on the bike. i'm glad it was cold and my tires STILL have not come in, or i probably would have been riding since it hasnt been raining.
point of the story? deer suck. now i want to buy a big truck and just go hit them on purpose!

Damn, Tess!!!!!:wow8: That sucks!!!! Sounds like it could have been much worse, though. Glad you're okay, mostly. Make sure you get to a doc soon and get your back looked at.
You don't need to buy a big truck. After you start feeling better we can take my jeep and go find the little :yell: that did this, and put a hurt on him and his buddies:yes:
Seriously, feel better, and let us know if there's anything you need.

Take care,
B

Glad to hear that your alright outside of the back. That's the downside of animals that only know how to eat, sniff each others ass and breed. Well, I might have just discribed a few of the guys on the forum but I don't think they'll take offense.:smilewink:

Again, just glad to hear that your alright.

thanks guys :)
guess fixing up my car will be my winter project... i dont mind a few scratches here and there, but i have my limits... and this is WAY over my limit of damage.
bobby- i'm loving your idea

yikes Tess! Kris said that she almost hit a deer on her way home last night as well. They must be out in force to get revenge for the whole "Deer Hunting" season. Hope you feel better.

Glad to hear you are okay Tess  . Deer SUCK! I swear they are almost as stupid as sheep and much more dangerous. When I am driving the van I don't even slow down for them anymore... venison is yummy! :lets-eat:

That sucks that you hurt your back. I guess you are talkin about the MR2?

It sounds like your cat-like reflexes did come in handy. Deer in the headlights is one thing. Deer in the lap is another......

Wow, glad to hear you are ok! This would defnitely be one of those times we are glad there is a cage around us. And plus a bazillion about getting your back fixed. I hurt mine last Christmas, waited 7 months to do anything about it, and now am going on 5 months of recovery...so.get it and get it looked at even if it's bearable, cuz it just gets worse.

yes, sadly my baby is pretty beat up now... i'm heading to a friends house tonight who does body work and he's going to take a look at it and give me an estimate on getting it fixed... it wont be cheap, i know that much.

And plus a bazillion about getting your back fixed.
i actually have had back problems for years, thanks to my horse... there really is no fixing it at this point. but i'm just hoping i havent managed to make it worse somehow. i think its mostly just tension knots, i'm going to give it a few days and see how it goes.

Loving the idea huh? Guess I should start gathering supplies. let's see........ 'bout four cases of burpwieser, a couple spotlights, and some rope to tie his little a$$ to the front bumper so we can drive around and let his buddes "be warned" the same fate awaits them. I'll even bring a larry the cable guy CD just to make the night complete:hysterical: Oh-Wait! I think I'm having a Dukes of Hazzard flashback or something. Guess my Dad was right when he used to say: "That boy just aint right!"
Later,

Please tell me you have a station wagon lined up for those "evening activities". I would love to see their furry little ass strapped to the top of the station wagon just like a christmas tree. Tis the season. :naughty:

glad to hear your ok Tess. FYI, next time just hit the deer so insurance knows there was a deer involved, this way its not all your fault. If insurance is invovled without out deer hair on your car then Ive been told it's your fault. Understand? Glad your still ok though. Not saying i wish u would have hit the deer but just something for everyone to think about in the future. Hopefully it never comes to that again.

i dont have full coverage, so hitting the deer would probably have put me in a worse situation financially. i'm pretty sure it would have totalled the front end of my car and then i would have ate my airbag...
talked to a friend today that does body work, he said he might be able to get it all done for $1200. thats without making everything underneath straight again. need to pull the frame out, it got tweaked a little. bummer! i hate my car, i need to drive a train or something equally indestructible...
guess the money that comes from selling my bike will be spent on my car... my riding season will be starting late next year. :mecry:

Hey Tess! I heard theres a WWII tank up for sale on ebay:yes: The gas mileage will kill ya though.

That sucks about the damage to the car. Is it even driveable? With a bent frame it's probably not safe, I'd guess.

That's it......next week we'll have bike night in the woods off of I-5- bring your 4x4's..................and some rope!:pityfool-MrT:

Oh yeah, are you feeling any better today? Hope so.
Peace,
B

i'm not really feeling better today... i have good moments where i think "ah, relief! i'm all better"... but then like 5 minutes later i get a muscle spasm in some random spot. it blows. the car is totally driveable actually, which is a good thing. the bends in the frame are all by the bumper and really minor, but he is still going to have to put it on that thing that pulls it all straight. oh well. glad i wasnt hurt worse... if i hadnt hit that barrier (which was only about 1/8 mile long) i would have careened off into the ditch and field and probably rolled over a time or two... not fun. :eek2:

I am amazed that thing didnt break into 3 pieces. MR2's are not known for their crash results...

yeah i'd been dreading the day i had an accident in it... i think i just got lucky. its a fun car, but its about as crash-resistant as a soda can... i got out expecting to see my whole rear-end missing... surprise surprise!

go in tomorrow morning for some more xrays, then probably will wind up getting an MRI on my mid-back and neck... still sore, yucky.
got new taillights for my car and am on the hunt for a cheap used bumper thats not all messed up... then saving my pennies for the body work & paint! one step closer to my baby being put back together!!
