Bike: 2001 Suzuki Bandit 1200s.
I rode it around today, NO problems, worked it through all the gears most of the afternoon on a ride, everything worked perfect. Bike has NEVER given me electrical/mechanical issues, not once.
Problem: I decided to remove and clean all my fairings this afternoon. All fairings taken off. Fuel tank taken off. Cleaned everything, everything put back on. Attached Left turn signal, worked/blinked fine. When I went to attach the Right turn signal back on, I pushed the quick-release electronic fastener into the female half (connected to the bike), and I heard a fizzing sound, like "zzzzz-it." I turned the bike key to "ON", and all that came on was the main headlight. No tail-light, no clock, nothing. My entire electronic display, including odometer, fuel gauge, neutral, turn signals, ALL did not come on. When I usually turn the key to ON, the needles on the dials sweep across then come back to rest at 0 for speedo and 0 for tach. Neither swept after this "fizzing" sound. My bike started, but I shut it off quickly bc i realized I was in trouble.
I pushed it into garage, looked over everything one last time, and turned key to "ON." No headlight, nothing. Battery is no longer supplying power.
WHAT HAPPENED TO MY BIKE?!?!?!
Did i fry the wiring harness somehow? Did i short something? How can this be fixed?
ANY AND ALL ADVICE IS WANTED. If more information is needed, I can post up. I can also supply photos if anything here is unclear.
This is making me pretty depressed, as I have NO electrical or mechanical knowledge and I am fearing the worst, obviously. But i don't even know what that entails....
thanks all

Find the fuse block and check the fuses first:thumbup:

+1 if the designers were smart they would have put a fuse between the signal and the main computer. find the broken fuse and that should fix your problem.

Turns out my signal generator fuse was blown. I put my "High-beam" fuse in its place (both 15A fuses), so all i need to do now is buy some more fuses.
Wow, I feel so much better now. And it reminded me once again just how completely clueless I am when it comes to mechanical and electrical problems...But i want to learn!!!
Well, lesson learned: how to identify fuses and replace them!
Thanks all. What would i do without forums like this, with helpful and friendly advice always given?: )
I'm going to look back on this tomorrow and laugh because i was seriously tweaking out!!! I have no car, just my bike, and I was freaking out, "My wiring harness is probably blown! My bike is totaled! I'm going to have to sell it now!!"
Wow, sad indeed, but funny all the same! I'm not a squid i swear!! lolol

Good to hear! You should get a clymer manual for the bike. There is a section just for troubleshooting small issues like this. It also shows how to do any repair or service you would ever need to do to the bike.
I've bought one for every bike I've ever owned. Saved me lots of $$$ over the years.

Glad it was nothing serious.

In the future, if you plug something in and it shorts out, unplug it and find out the problem. You probably had water in the connector or both wires touched while you were connecting it.
