I'm preparing to do a major service on my new (old) VFR before anymore long rides. It needs some new brake pads front and rear, a chain and sprocket set, and a set of tires wouldn't hurt a bit. I'm picky about quality and prefer to use factory parts for all the usual maintenance, but I realize the aftermarket is probably the way to go for these items.

I'm curious what brands of parts you all have had good luck with and if there are any I should avoid. This is a sport-touring bike so I'm looking to get some life out of the parts, not just pure performance. Thanks! -Paul

and a pic from my cruise to central Oregon yesterday.

Galfer or EBC brake pads.

Vortex sprockets.

Michelin tires. Specific model depending on how you like to ride and whether or not you do trackdays.

EBC.

Michelin or a harder compound Dunlop. Sprockets dont matter. Just the teeth.

Avoid: OEM if possible.
