Doug Chandler broke his old record this last race weekend by turning a 1:06.574.

There's talk that he's expected to break that record this July 14. Must have been fun to watch.

But champcar uses the chicane and that ads about 10 seconds per lap so technicaly he is 18sec slower than a champ car. Thats still a good time though

He has local ties with his old Muzzy affiliation, and we were one of VERY few clubs who would allow his then 13yo son to take novice school and get a race license. So he has been here twice now in the last two years. I raced against him last year on his ZX-10 Superbike and his corner exits were just stupid for the two laps I was able to stay close to him. But DPW beat him last time here and he said he wanted a rematch. Plus he is now testing his new ride, and this is a low key place to do so.

New record set yesterday at the OMRRA race. 1:06:28 or something like that, I believe. Don't know any more than that, sorry. I was just there to watch and learn, wasn't really paying attention to names or numbers...

It was really funny, because I was sitting at bike turn 4 with my friend timing the leader, of the afternoon unlimited race, with my wrist watch. When I clocked the rider at 1:06:22 (it was only a wrist watch:idunno:), I turned to my friend and was like, "that guy just set a new track record, sweet."
Not only did we get to see the record setting lap, but I actually timed it! :rad: That's right, Im cool. Now who wants to touch me?...I said who wants to touch me!!:yell:

HAHAHA. Will you autograph a hat for me? The official number was 1:06.288 @ 104mph average.

He's been known for many years to be one of the smoothest riding racers. He has absolutely incredible talent too.

I had the opportunity to watch him do a Formula USA race at Seattle Intl Racewayback in 89' along with Mr. Daytona. They were insanely fast on those old school ZX-7's.

Oh, and King Kenny was there with his Team Marlboro's nitrous boosted 250cc GP bikes. Rich Oliver was the pilot on that bike and he pulled the Big Papa Yoshimura GSXR's down the straightaway.

What a show!

I miss Formula USA! "race what you bring"

DPW broke chandler's record lap from last time with a 106.3 then later in the same race Chandler pulled a 106.2. Sweet race to watch. 3rd and 4th were hotly contested as well.

That race was fun to watch Dan Wilson and Doug Chandler both broke the lap record in two consecutive laps with Chandle ending with a 1:06.288 as the new and last lap record in the Old track configuration. That record will be eched in stone forever. Does everyone realize that the new record will be set at the first race of the year this year. I'm sure it will get broke many times over the coarse of the first few seasons.
