Well, its not remotely close to a sport bike...lol.. but I got it dirt cheap and it runs really good. And what my intentions are is to paint it and clean it up and sell it to get a bit closer to my new bike that I want. Here are some pics of the paint job thus far. I still have to finish the side panels and the fender but I love the way the tank came out  . It still needs some cosmetics but it still looks much better than when I got it. On to the pics...
Before.. it had flat black rattle can paint on it done by a 16 yr old...lol.

I painted a reaper on top but it is hard to see with the glare..

The CB 750 was an inline twin if memory serves me. That appears to be a CX 500 engine.

ah ha, I was right. The GL500 Silverwing is powered by the CX500 engine.
I logged alot of miles on the back of a Silverwing back in the day.
Holy crap, you did that paint work?! That's freak'n awsome. I can't believe you're not knock'n out the bucks to get the bike you want with that talent. Hey, if its because you do work for really cheap, maybe you can help me get my stock plastic looking better before you become well known and expensive. :haha:

we need to head over to the fabric store, get a good stapler, build up the muscles in the old hands for stretching it over the seat and we are in man

flyte youre a turd every 70s 750 was a 4cylinder inline that honda made unless after my research today someone can educate me further. i only asked cuz i had several 750k and f models in the 80s. my favorite of the 70s was the 400 four . i owned one for years

Here is a pic of the reaper before the clear coat. I kind of hoped he would look a little more evil than this but ah well! I did his face all freehand. Not too bad being its my first mural/image ever. And yes, doing the pupils in his eyes was a bit tricky! Eezz, I am pretty new at custom painting. I have been doing insurance work on auto's for about 12 years ( freakin boring to say the least ) And as far as working for cheap, yep that is me. I usually charge much less than most other custom painters. I do the custom work on the side and really don't care to overwhelm myself to be honest.

ram takes a sec to put in if we can ever find the time, you know im there .. and ya flyte is a turd. he did give my kids about 5 billion beer bottles his wife said he collected over a year, they filled up my entire truck bed for a can and bottle drive. of course his macaw tried to poo on me several times today while i held him (bad Jasper) Flyte was pretty much my first friend here and has remained.. im thinkin in his only friend and im considering shooting him in the foot for tellling my new wife when she got tired of the scandinavian man to call him lol

Wow buddy, that is an amazing job!! Love the old German Cross on the side of the tank. Reminds me of the old Aces of WWI and II. :)

cb750 was an inline four. those cx500s have a bit of torque and wheelie just fine. I bought one on CL for 40 bucks put 60 into it, made it run and sold it for 600 in three weeks.

40 bucks? And here I thought I got a good deal on mine!! Lol.. I actually took it out yesterday for a little ride and it does indeed have some good low end but power in the upper range is pretty lacking. I can see myself getting bored of this one fairly quickly. But it was definitely nice to get out there. I was surprised that it turned as many heads as it did. With the tank painted it reminds me of a saying some of us painters use.. "it's like lipstick on a pig"...lol... Ah well, you have to start somewhere right? Oh, and thanks again everyone for the kind words on the paint thus far

I borrowed a friends SilverWing back in the mid 80's and road it around the Green River, Tacoma area. It was a fine bike for that. At the time I was riding a V45 Sabre.
Cool work. I'd love to start Air Brushing, just don't make time for all the other projects.
You're smart to not "over Load" yourself with art jobs. It can be an easy way for your passion to lose it's charm.
Have fun with it and more power to ya! You'll have no problem finding a buyer for you "Pig in lipstick".

Ok, I got the side panels done and the front fender is black. I am not sure if I want to do something on the trunk and front fender or not, maybe later. I still think it needs something though just not sure what. Any ideas? Maybe its the mismatched wheel lip that is throwing me off?:idunno: I do want to redo the seat because once again my impatient ways got the best of me... I am definitely NOT an upholstery wiz...lol

Even though I really didnt want to do any skulls in this I did anyways..lol. I was going to put a cemetary under the candy but I kind of got creeped out by the thought of a reaper and broken tombstones on my first bike...lol... So after some head scratching and impatience I did the skulls anyways.
http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a275/cstmp8r/paint%20jobs/DSC03969.jpg
I like how the candy looks in this pic... Though not so much my seat coverin skills..lol.. One thing came to my mind right when I was done doing the seat... DO NOT sit on it until the adhesive has time to dry... can you say wrinkles? lmao. Ah well. I think it still looks better than the faded overcoat that was on there.

Dude, great job! If you're going to redo your seats , I suggest using a heat gun to stretch the leather a bit.
Now how much will charge to do a lil artwork on fairings?
