I decided to post this up, because I am not the only Newb here. I still have to take my class, and am going to sign up. Are there any instructors here? If so, please feel free to post up on what to expect, etc. I want to know every detail.

here is the program that I teach for. Its called Riders Edge and is the only MSF course in the state. If you have any questions about the class feel free to ask. As opposed to the State program (Team Oregon) we only have a 2-3 week wait during the Summer. Here is the link to the Riders Edge site http://www.ridersedge.com/
then here is the link to the dealerships page you can find out more about the classes and whats open here..http://www.latus-harley-davidson.com/riders_edge.asp

Ride Safe and feel free to ask questions

I just had my first class tonight of the BRT. Bruce was our classroom instructor and it was pretty cool tonight. Get to ride bikes tomorrow, I'm excited! Can't bring my Gixxer 1000, though... :(

I can't wait to finally be street legal come Monday morning! I'm sure I'll see some of my classmates @ the DMV.

Oy, I just know its gonna be hot as hell tomorrow too. I have the p.m. riding group, so my riding gear is gonna kill me. (Five hours of riding 10-15mph...)

*edited to add this is Bend, OR.

So in the first night is it mostly safety and knowing the bike ? I did read up on things .. Just wondering..

usually the first session is all classroom, discussing safe practices, safe decision making, laws and a general familiarizing with the bike and certain key controls.

Second day is half classroom, with the written portion of the test and the second half is on bike learning basics, clutch control, turning, stopping, shifting etc

Third day is all on the bike. Practicing evasive maneuvers, turning in tight radius, balance control, panic stopping etc. With the on bike portion of the test at the end of the day.

At least thats how we rolled in Washington!

Written part of test ??? What other test is there ? They test you again on the permit part ??:wtf: time to find that pamphlet again..

I actually have ride a little near by. Torque taught me a bunch as well. Basic shifting, turning, 8's cirlcles. Heck even taught me how to repair the fairrings, change the oil,oil filter etc..(tmi but, I want to know how to fix it as well as ride it.Just in case I get stuck somewhere..lol.)
But, he wanted me as well as I wanted to take the course because of safety. He's been in a couple accidents himself..Thanks to some idiots.

I'm sure its the same here as well in regards to the said above..Referring to what you wrote..:crash: :ride: :crash: :ride: :ride: :ride: lol. Hopefully no falling off and making an xxxx of myself..
