I have the bill of sale on my bike, and I do not have the title to the bike. I contacted DMV and told them of my dilemma, and they said to contact North Carolina DMV to get the title. Well, N.C. said the only record they have of the bike is when Mike applied for title transfer to California and then cancelled it. I called California, and they said the only record they have for the bike is when Mike applied for title transfer and then cancelled it.

I know the title is clean, except for being reconstructed. (had that checked out.) I just don't know where to go from here. I want to ride so dad gummed bad I can hardly stand it. I am almost in tears when ever I see a bike out.

Can someone direct me in the right direction?

If you have the bill of sale...can't you just apply for a lost title?

Yes bring in the bill of sale and apply for a lost title. Buy a trip permit so you can ride while the DMV takes their sweet ass time in fixing the issue.

I just went through that with my bike. What you need to do is file for a lost title in the last state it was titled in then when you get the title from that state you can take it to oregon dmv. Its a big pain in the ass. Also you can get as many trip permits as you need the limit of 2 dosn't aply to motorcycles because they don't have to go through emisions. I had to get 3 before I finaly got all my stuff straightend out.

Can I come watch the drama at dmv when they tell you you don't have the rite paper work or not enough paper work:popcorn:

Do you know who's name is on the title? If a title is lost, stolen, or destroyed, you can apply for a replacement title, provided someone ( the original title owner)can certify what happened to the title on the Application for Replacement Title (http://www.dmv.org/loading-page.php?mainnav_id=49&stateid=37&state=Oregon&section=Title+Transfers&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.odot.state.or.us%2Fforms%2Fdm v%2F515.pdf). A stolen title is considered lost, but only if it was stolen by an unknown party with no ownership interest in the vehicle.

Sometimes the Bill of Sale will work alone depending which DMV. You will also need to take your bike to DMV for VIN INSPECTION.

did you get that straight? i hope so, anyway the reason i mention dmv sucks is quite simple, back in 1998 i bought a vw van and i went to dmv to put the car in our name easy task right?, well not like that, that retard woman in the dmv misplaced the title just god knows what she did with the damn thing, however our plan was get the title in our name and take a ride down to Mexico to visit my Folks (you'll need the title in your name if you export a car in Mexico) anyway we wait for 6 weeks and no title mmmmm, we call the dmv nobody knew sh:::! so finally i raise my voice, i am a really quiet person but that was beyond my patience, well after that and more then 30 phone calls, finally the dmv come up with a quick solution expedite the title and ask us to wait another 2 weeks , so thanks to that retard woman i missed christmas with my folks, well you may ask why you didn't flight, it was december the 20th and we couldn't find any available tickets everything was overbooked, anyway we send a letter to the dmv we told them about the horrible performance about her besides she needs to be review and make recomendations, however until today she still works for the dmv she was relocated to another office branch
