Hello from the most beautiful place I believe on this planet.

Sun Valley, Idaho!

Whohoo!

630 riding miles today from Portland to "Big Sky Country"... It was 78 degrees when I arrived

Tonight is a stay at the historic Sun Valley Lodge, an italian dinner in the
Village next door then a swim in the incredible heated outdoor pool.

Can it get any better..?? I have died and gone to heaven http://www.gl1800riders.com/forums/images/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif

The history in this lodge is simply overwhelming.

It's amazing though to think that I just rode in comfort on a 06' Goldwing in 1 day a substantial portion
of the Oregon Trail. How many months did it take the pioneers to get from Central Idaho to Oregon City...??

Lots of waving motorcyclists enroute. I still can't get used to the no helmet law in Idaho though.
Many superbikers with just shorts on, tennis shoes and sunglasses...

I rode the stretch from Baker City to Ontario along with a Mazda silver RX8. We were doing about 80-85mph the whole way thru sweeping stretches of the freeway. Wide open spaces!!

Tomorrow I ride thru the Sawtooth National Forest over to Stanley and also Idaho City.

I love motorcycle touring!!!

Here's a link to Sun Valley...truly paradise

Day 2 of my motorcycle trip in Idaho...

Today I rode 250 miles thru the Sawtooth Mountain range north of Sun Valley over to Boise. I am absolutely exhausted. I rode at 9,000 feet today on incredibly twisty, perfectly paved winding Idaho state highways. Almost 60 miles in one single stretch were 30-35-40mph cambered turns with breathtaking views. There was a 3 mile stretch I rode with a 6% downill grade with massive twisties...It was like riding a corkscrew....

Tomorrow I ride to McCall, Idaho near Hells Canyon....whohoo!

Howdy from Boise.. day 3 of this great Idaho motorcycle road trip.

Early this morning, I rode up to Payette Lake near McCall. 2 hours of float tube fly fishing for rainbow trout. I haven't fished this way in years and LOVE IT!!! So cool... The fish weren't biting but who cares!

I left McCall for another awesome ride back to Boise. I did about more 250 miles today. I rode Bogus Basin Road to the ski resort up in the mountains just north of Boise. 18 miles of sharp twisty turns. Lots of superbikes and the sweet sounds of woodpeckers and Yoshimura race pipes..!!

I ended up shopping at Cabela's superstore here in Boise this afternoon and spent way too much money...They so need to open a Cabela's in Portland....it's like GI Joe's on steroids. What a place!

Tomorrow...North to Nezperce Indian territory, Whitebird Hill to Lewiston then back into Portland.

Bogus Basin...the best night skiing in the West.

A 16 mile 7% grade rollercoaster ride down to Boise...custom made for motorcycles!!

7,000 feet up overlooking Boise & the Treasure Valley

Woodpeckers were everywhere amongst these ponderosa pine trees... The smell of the forest is incredible...
