Ok Guys and Gals,
The question for discussion today is steering stabilizers/dampers. What is the best one on the market...Scotts vs/ GPR vs/ Ohlins etc. What do you guys ride with and why? Thanks.

Ohlins b/c it came on the bike. I've had other bikes with Scott dampers but that was about 4 years prior to the Ohlins. I may not give a fair shake to Scott by comparing it to a model w/ 4 more years up on development but I like the Ohlins better. The adjustability in terms of fluid, linear feeling differences between the clicks is better. The Scott got 'gluey' on the higher settings and too 'mushy' on the lower settings. Again, I'm reviewing a mid to late 90's model.

I don't think they're necessary for street riding (esp. for me). I ride at about 7/10ths MAX on the street. For the track, IMO, one of the more critical pieces of equipment for stability (key term) at speed.

The Mep just uses the stock GSXR one, however he is looking around for something a bit better. Sportrider seemed to like the GPR they put on the 06 1000

With some of the stuff I see on the track and street, I shake my head at many different speeds! :sticking-out-tongue

First, any damper is better than no damper. This has been discussed in great detail other forums I am a member of. I'll summarize: GPR, Scotts, Ohlins, and Hyper Pro (the brand I have), are all good and work well. Differences in functionality are minor, and which one is better for you boils down to personal preference regarding those minor differences.

I ride with a Scotts damper. Why? because I got a good deal from a guy off the net 250.00 shipped and I have heard nothing but good things about the scotts damper.
