oooo i wish i had a little more cash saved up... i'd love to do a track day before my move in june.
questions about stuff:
1- if my jacket is textile/leather and my pants are leather, but they zip together... thats acceptable, correct?
2- if my jacket has a built-in hard back protector, that is also acceptable, correct?
3- if i'm a pretty experienced street rider, but it is my first track day, is the B or C group recommended?
just making sure... ya know, in case i find myself with some spare money by next week :smilewink:

I'll have to check on the gear questions you posed. Do 'C' with us then you'll be ready to chase your friends down. We'll even make sure you get the much coveted secrets of PIR to really dominate your pals.

thanks :)
i forgot to specify, the jacket & pants only zip together in the back, not a 360' zipper... dont know if that is a deal-breaker or not.

I think for C you may be okay but I will want to confirm (I'm just an ambassador not an employee). Can you PM me a pic of the jacket? Any CE armor on the shoulders and ???
I really think you'll like our group. I've been going to the track w/ Motocorsa for 3 years now. They've revamped their approach and attention to the classes and the smiles are really big in the paddock this year. I was getting concerned there for a while. You'll get all the attention you want and meet many others with Duc fever. Quack.

Heres what I found on the MC site:
• All riders are recommended to wear one-piece leather motorcycle riding suits with armor at knees, elbows and shoulders. Two-piece leathers and textile style suits are allowed but recommended that they zip together and include armor in the knees, elbows and shoulders. Back protectors are required. Motorcycle boots and armored gloves required.
My concern is the built-in back protector. It could pass, but I'd make the call to MC if I were you. 503 292 7288

FYI, I just got off the phone with MC and they said that built-in protector is fine, they just don't want someone with a leather jacket doubling as a motorcycle jacket showing up and thinking they're good.

hmm. I need to talk to them. I was just told built-ins aren't rigid enough. We'll have to get everyone on the same page.

Clarification on back protectors. They are necessary for all groups. This is from Arun (top management). On the market there are two jackets that have RIGID ones built in. One of those is all textile so it won't cut it. The other, who knows. If you got it, we'll take a look at it. BTW - if you sign up they will give you a discount on the back protectors they offer. That's straight from Arun.
MC is dedicated to safety. Now that we've cleared up the confusion, let's ride!

No one is ever alone at MC trackdays. If you play the part of the "gee, he/she was a quiet neighbor" lone gunman role, then yeah, we'll leave you alone.
I make new friends every time I go to the track.

v8zman - No one replied so you'll get my response (which some may view as biased - I'll do my best).
Weather: Slightly chilling the first hour but the sun was out. The afternoon was perfect.
Track: 16q of oil from a car over the weekend so turn 1 & 2 freaked out newcomers. By mid-morning I was feeling it out and you could run as hard as you like through the chalkdust. Most came around when word spread through the pits that A group was running through it like it wasn't there.
Safety: We had about 3 get-offs during the day, one which required an ambulance to check a busted kneecap (just banged). All parties walking and fine. I had the pleasure of picking up two bikes (my back!).
Amenities: Pirelli present, On-Sight Productions, gourmet coffee provided, lasagna/caesar salad/cookie lunch, and FREE massages.
A group: 25 riders or so
B group: 40 riders or so
C group: 12-15 riders (some B got bumped down and were provided one-on-one assistance).
For the first time, we ended at 5pm as opposed to 4pm (MORE TRACK TIME!!!) The last 40 minutes, there were so many riders exhausted it was an open track. There were many B & C riders still smiling ear-to-ear in their helmets.
I would say it was the best trackday I've participated in with Motocorsa. They've definitely made a lot of changes to their approach since last year and I believe it is starting to pay dividends.

the/your first trackday can be a bit overwelming. a well run, relaxed environment, with a lot of helpful people will make sure you have a great day.
read this as an invitation for all riders, all skill levels no matter if your riding a 250cc or a new liter bike. with a focus on the street rider... speed is not an issue ... have fun and add to your skill set.
if your thinking about going out to the track i think that motocorsa's new format is perfect. the c group gets a little classroom instruction which is very helpful for new track riders. lots of instructors, use them ! reading books and seat time is great but there is nothing like having someone watch you ride ( & look at the photo's by onsightproductions ). you've probably heard that to learn, ride with good riders ( they fail to mention that you can't keep up with them ). you will be able able to follow an instructor that will take the time ( ride at your speed ! ) to show you the track lines, body position etc.etc.
check motocorsa's website for their trackdays and sign up for one, you'll quickly find out why everybody raves about it !
